(Chicago, IL) – April 25, 2012. Forest Park Democrat Rory Hoskinshas abandoned his recount effort against Emanuel “Chris” Welch (D-Hillside) who won a 33-vote victory in the Illinois House 7th district Democratic primary on March 20.

Hoskins’ attorney, Jim Nally, today contacted Welch’s counsel, Rich Means, to concede the effort.
Means alerted officials at Cook County Clerk David Orr‘s office that the recount would be discontinued.
Welch will likely win the general election in the heavily Democratic district which is currently represented by Democrat Karen Yarbrough of Maywood who is aiming to move up to the Cook County Recorder of Deed’s post.
