(Chicago) – September 3, 2012. A top Chicago Democratic alderman will not be attending the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, because he was “not invited”, according to a source.
For the first time in decades, Chicago 14th Ward Alderman and Democratic Ward Committeeman Edward Burke, 63, is not going to a Democratic Convention.
According to the source, when asked last week, in a private conversation, if he was joining the Illinois delegation at the convention, Burke allegedly said, “No. No one invited me.”
A fellow committeeman today confirmed that Burke, the Dean of the Chicago City Council, has not been seen.
Burke, who became an alderman in 1969, is Chairman of the City Council’s powerful Finance Committee.
