(Chicago) – Poll: A new survey reveals that Gov. Pat Quinn and GOP businessman Bruce Rauner are in a dead heat.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely Illinois voters shows Rauner leading narrowly 43% to Quinn’s 40%, an edge that is within the margin of error.
Given Quinn’s abysmal job approval ratings, that he lags by only three-points behind Rauner demonstrates that the wealthy Republican newcomer faces a big challenge in defeating Quinn in heavily Democratic Illinois.
Writing off Quinn would be foolish.
The poll says six percent prefer some other candidate, while 10% are undecided.
The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Illinois was conducted on April 9-10, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
