Extra: Speaker Mike Madigan Taps New Criminal Law Committee Chair

(Chicago) – EXTRA: House Speaker Michael Madigan late on Friday tapped a new chairman of the House criminal law committee for the last days of the 97^th General Assembly.

Madigan appointed a trusted legislative ally, House Deputy Majority Leader Lou Lang (D-Skokie), to the Judiciary II committee chairmanship until January 9 to handle whatever legislation may come the committee’s way.

The panel’s previous chair, State Rep. Connie Howard (D-Chicago), retired earlier this year.

The House returns to Springfield on Sunday, January 6 at 5:00 p.m.
